I am writing to express my concern that the Charities Commission has approved the LGB Alliance charity registration, and I am standing with and supporting the UK Pride Organisers Network.
LGB Alliance is seen as a political organisation who are campaigning for the removal of transgender people from the LGBT+ community. They have also expressed questionable opinions of the trans community, as has been documented and submitted to yourselves by Pride in London (21st April 2021)
As Patron of Pride in Surrey, a performer with a 38 year associations with Pride events here in the UK and around the world, and most importantly as a member of the LGBT+ community, I am adding my voice to those concerns already raised by Pride organisations across this country.
Division and hate has no place in our community.
Without our trans sisters and brothers there would be no Pride.
I am proud to be a trans ally.
I am proud to be a member of the LGBT+ community.
I am ashamed that there are members of the LGBT+ community who feel the need to exclude our trans siblings.
I am appalled that the Charity Commission would grant charity status to an organisation who’s sole aim is to cause division and seek the exclusion of a minority group.
I am asking that you reconsider this decision, and I remind you again of the definition of charity:
“kindness and tolerance in judging others.”
The LGBT+ community has always stood together against hate, and fought for inclusion.
Please do not enable those who want to divide us.
There is no home for hate – Turn it into Love.
Yours faithfully,
