Thunder – Lightning – Rain – More Rain – and oh – More Rain!!!
What ever happened to Flaming June?
Was contemplating building an ark this month.
4th June – Wolverhampton. Had a lovely warm welcome from the crowd in Wolverhampton.
Got to catch up with my old mate Jaki Graham, and her lovely husband Tony, along with Sonia and husband Mark (and Miss Gracie too!)
A Free Fun Fest For All The Family!!! Whats not to love about a Free Fun Fest?!!!
The Dean family also had a fun night out to see Anastasia at Hampton Court. One of the few rain free days left us free to enjoy a picnic on the lawn of our favourite palace AND Anastasia without getting wet, what more could anyone want?
She was brilliant!
11th June and off we went to Sweden via Denmark – where I was to perform at a private 50th Birthday Party.
We flew into Copenhagen and drove to Sweden over “The Bridge” which I now know to be infamous due to a cult TV show?
Now when I say private, the birthday boy, David and his partner Par had invited, well pretty much everyone to their beautiful
home for what can only be described as a weekend of eating, drinking and making merry!
It was somewhat a surprise to be greeted by David, resplendent in a leather apron (hmmm what kind of party is this??!!) and ushered through to their dining room which had been transformed into a club, complete with glitter ball!!!! Diva-Tastic!
I had a fantastic show, despite almost getting locked in the hotel room just prior to showtime.
David and Pars friends and family and eclectic and charming mix making me feel very welcome, especially
my NBF Michelle (I’m sure CEO’s aren’t supposed to behave like that Michelle?! LOL)
After the show co-pilot and I only intended staying for about an hour, but ended up being delivered back to the hotel around 2am.
A drunk and not too disorderly co-pilot wobbling somewhat after consuming the best part of a very nice bottle of brandy – Good grief!
The next day, the fragile partygoers (co-pilot included) re-grouped back at the house for sausage sandwiches for their ailments.
David & Par – Thank you for inviting me into your home, I had a blast performing for you – Keep in touch!!!!!
12th June: Sadly we had to leave and were dispatched off to the airport (after being checked off on David’s very organised spreadsheet!) and headed off back to Copenhagen
via “The Bridge” again. En route, a lady sharing the cab commented on a breaking news story “Oh, looks like there has been an incident in a gay nightclub in Orlando” It wasn’t until much later we knew the full extent of the “incident”.
“When evil men plot, good men must plan. When evil men burn and bomb, good men must build and bind.
When evil men shout ugly words of hatred, good men must commit themselves to the glories of love.
Where evil men would seek to perpetuate an unjust status quo, good men must seek to bring into being a real order of justice.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
23rd June and we woke up to hear the result of the Brexit vote. I think we are all still reeling from that, so I will use another quote, posted on a friends Facebook, which sums up nicely the chaos and turmoil that has ensued, although Im not one for Lenin under usual circumstances, this says it all:
‘There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.’
Vladimir Ilyich Lenin
The evening of the 23rd I took a trip over to Radio 2 to record an interview with Sara Cox for her show “Sounds of The 80’s” which will be aired at 8pm on 8th July.
What a lovely lady she is, and with three kids of her own totally unfazed by Miss Dean Junior launching into her with “Do you know Jess Glynne?” before even shaking hands and saying hello!
I have been doing a lot of pre REWIND interviews, and still have a load more ahead of me. Honestly, there are only so many things I can think of to say about myself!!!
So, what else can I tell you……? Well my family and I are very much looking forward to seeing Carole King at Hyde Park on 3rd July and Jess Glynne on the 13th July.
And for shows, you can next see me at -Northern Pride, Newcastle 16th July and REWIND at Scone Palace Scotland on the 23rd July, then back up to Scotland on 30th July for the Big 80”s party at Mambo’s in Peterhead.
